by large {\'a}reas with sugar cane. Taking into account the land
use change, the visible and infra red bands of the MODIS sensor
were coupled with agrometeorological data for quantifying water
indicators throughout a generalized growing cycle from September
2011 to October 2012. During the four characterized crop stages,
the mean values of actual evapotranspiration (ET) ranged from 0.6
to 4.0 mm day-1. Biomass production (BIO) averaged values were
between 20 and 200 kg ha-1, resulting in water productivity values
from 2.8 to 6.0 kg m-3. Soil moisture indicators based on ET,
reference evapotranspiration (ET0) and precipitation (P), were
applied indicating probable benefices of supplementary irrigation
during the phase of active growth. The main results, with
quantification of the large-scale water variables may subsidize
the rational management of the water resources under the
conditions of fast climate and land changes promoted by the sugar
